Ten-year anniversary

What started as a somewhat crazy idea born out of passion ten years ago, has become a faithful summer rendezvous to discover new music, hear your favorite artists, enjoy the beautiful sunset and meet with friends. We are delighted to celebrate our tenth anniversary with an exceptional mini-festival at Bimhuis on July 31st.

Juan-Pablo Dobal
To the public, Juan-Pablo Dobal is mostly known as accompanist of Carel Kraayenhof, Fernando Lameirinhas, Omar Mollo. But he is so much more than ‘just’ the Netherlands’ most in demand specialist for tango and other Latin styles. From the age of 15, he excelled in classical music as well as in jazz. At the age of 25, he moved from Buenos Aires to Amsterdam where he could blend all his diverse skills. Dobal’s solo performances are breathtaking and suck you deep into his universe, impossible to predict where he will take you tonight, just close your eyes and surrender to the journey.

Bezetting

  • Juan-Pablo Dobal – piano

Untraveled Land
Four musicians/composers who all start from the narrative power of music. Their individual travels brought them together in a mixture of narrative musical poetry and adventurousness.
Explosive eruptions, a long tension arc and a few noises in between silence: there is room for everything. The ever curious, ever creative improviser Oene van Geel has been a ‘regular’ on our roof (with Zapp String Quartet, Estafest, The Nordanians) and young charismatic Nawras Altaky has also enchanted our audience in past years. Their collaboration, though, is brandnew and we are
happy to be the first ones to present this newly formed quartet.

Bezetting

  • Oene van Geel – viola/ percussion
  • Annie Tangberg – cello/ vocals
  • Nawras Altaky – oud/ vocals
  • Koen Boeijinga – saxes/ wind instruments

Gabriel Milliet with Yanna Pelser & Dario Trapani

Gabriel Milliet is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, composer and multi- instrumentalist. Living in Amsterdam since 2017, he has been making music about the distances one experiences as an immigrant. Songs that are letters, or old analog photos.

In this show he is accompanied by two great artists: Viola player and singer Yanna Pelser, from The Netherlands, whose repertoire ranges from classical to experimental improvised music, including her own songwriting project called Albertine; and Dario Trapani (electric guitar, vocals), aka Radio Trapani, who plays in various jazz and pop groups and is also a prolific career as a music producer and songwriter.

Bezetting

  • Gabriel Milliet – guitar / vocals
  • Yanna Pelser – viola / vocals
  • Dario Trapani – electric guitar/ vocals

Two shows are planned for that evening with the same line-up.
